Additional Instructions for Teams Participating in Nationals
This page offers additional instructions for the teams that quality to participate in the National Challenge. Teams should note that the information already provided under Rules and Instructions for Teams will apply at Nationals.
Similar to the regional competitions, the written reports should be emailed to Policy Solutions Challenge USA at firstname.lastname@example.org by no later than seven (7) days prior to the start of the National Competition. For 2015, that deadline is March 13. If a team will be late with its memo, please keep in contact so that the judges may be notified as to when to expect it.
The judges will use the same criteria as already announced and used at the regional sites. Policy Solutions Challenge USA will be interacting with the judges to ensure they are prepared to use the criteria. Brief biographies of the judges will be available to the teams when they arrive to present on day 1.
Day 1: Career Networking Event
Policy Solutions Challenge USA invites all team members to attend a career networking event on Friday, March 20 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Representatives of several employers including the U.S. Congressional Research Service will be present.
Location: TBA in downtown DC or Capitol Hill.
Day 1: Preliminary Team Presentations to the Panel of Judges
Preliminary presentations will occur on Friday, March 20 in Ward Circle Building room 106 on the American University campus (online campus maps). To access campus by Metro, take the Red Line to Tennleytown/AU and follow signs to the AU shuttle. Take the Red Shuttle to exit just after crossing Ward Circle (intersection of Massachusetts Ave NW and Nebraska Ave NW). That stop is nearly in front of the Ward Circle Building (look for banners on the building announcing the School of Public Affairs). Parking is available in the lot underneath the Katzen Arts Center (entrance to the lot is on Massachusetts Avenue NW). You may pay for parking (weekdays) using a credit card. Teams should bring presentations on USB drives for loading onto a PC (no Mac formats, please).
The order of presentations on March 20 is as follows (determined by random draw):

After each team finishes, it will take the questions from the judges to be photocopied in the American University Department of Public Administration and Policy office on the 3rd floor of the Ward Circle Building, and then bring the original sheets back to the Challenge administrator outside Ward 106.
Day 2: Final Public Presentations
Final presentations will occur on Saturday, March 21 in the Butler Boardroom on the American University campus. The room is located on the 6th floor of the Butler Pavilion building in the center of the American University "quad" adjacent to the Mary Graydon Center. The elevator to the 6th floor is located outside the entrance to the American University campus bookstore. Parking in the Katzen Art Center lot will be free. Please note that the shuttle from the Metro runs less often on Saturdays.
The final presentations should be provided to Policy Solutions Challenge USA to load onto a laptop PC (no Mac formats, please) by 12:00 p.m. on the second day.
During the final public presentations on the second day, all teams must be present at the start of the event, and cannot leave the presentation room as a group. There will be no further practicing of presentations while other teams are speaking.
Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with an opportunity to meet the judges before the start of the presentations. There will be opening remarks at 12:15 pm.
The order of presentations, determined by the order from March 21, will be as follows with the first team starting at 12:30 pm:

Providing Final Team Documents to Policy Solutions Challenge USA
After the Challenge is complete, every team should send an electronic copy of its final written and oral presentations to Policy Solutions Challenge USA (same email address used for the written presentations). The presentations should be sent no later than 7 days after the Challenge concludes.
